It could be argued that the lead up to the big AFL Grand Final Day celebrations were just as exciting as the big day itself – at least that was the case for residents and staff at Clarendon Grange for the Collingwood Vs West Coast Football Grand Final.
On the Thursday before the Grand Final, residents and staff had an entertaining time making football decorations & decking out the main lounge area with hanging cardboard Sherrin footballs, West Coast and Collingwood Jerseys and team matched coloured balloons. The tables were covered in football colours and residents and staff wore their best football attire.
The day began with the highly anticipated footy tipping awards. 1stprize went to Charmie from our Admin team and one of our residents Heather was thrilled to receive the wooden spoon prize complete with certificate for coming last in the competition!
Lunch included all the usual footy food and then the afternoon was spent playing football games which residents took on with great enthusiasm. There was a handball station with scoreboard, balloons rotated around the table and hit by pool noodles and also the pong balls into a cup game. The handball station was a big winner coercing a great team spirit of everyone cheering every single resident along to hit that football in the centre!
Later that day during happy hour there was a football quiz to test the residents’ football knowledge. A fantastic day was had by all – but it has to be said there was not one Collingwood or West Coast Supporter at Clarendon Grange!
